Tragedy continues to unfold in Cobb County after the death of 9-month-old Aziah McDougle, who was shot outside the Budgetel Inns and Suites β Atlanta Galleria Stadium on Tuesday night.
What we know:
Five suspects have now been arrested:
- Martin Noah, Jayvian Young, and Ladarrius Brown β charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
- Camron Harris β accused of tampering with evidence and lying to police.
- Eric Smith β accused of tampering with evidence; warrants allege he disassembled a firearm and poured bleach on it in a bag.
Young and Brown allegedly assaulted each other, which resulted in the gunfire that killed Aziah, according to warrants.
Harris and Smith are accused of attempting to dispose of firearms and obstructing the investigation.
Troubling backdrop:
- Records show authorities were called more than 500 times in the past year to the Budgetel and neighboring Western Inn, which share a parking lot.
- Calls included reports of fights, thefts, fires, and stabbings.
- Just Friday morning, two people were stabbed at the same motel. One of the victims, 45-year-old Amatrian Hawkins, later died.
The case remains under active investigation.
