Disturbing allegations have emerged in Kennesaw after a former North Cobb High School teacher and his wife were arrested for allegedly subjecting their four children to years of abuse inside their home on Owens Landing Trail.

According to warrants filed in Cobb County Magistrate Court, Steven Griffin, a former English teacher, and Anissa Griffin are accused of:
- Locking their children in their bedrooms for extended periods
- Denying regular access to the bathroom
- Withholding food and basic needs
- Installing video cameras in the children's bedrooms without consent
- Requiring children to ask for permission to leave their rooms or eat, often through the surveillance system
One child, a 15-year-old, was reportedly forced to live in an unfinished basement with no heat or A/C, sometimes denied food or bathroom access, and confined for five days straight. Another victim, now 18, described being confined to her room for up to two months.
The surveillance included recording the children as they changed clothes, which several described as humiliating and invasive.

Steven Griffin has resigned from his teaching role following the arrest. A spokesperson for Cobb County Schools said:
"We expect all our staff members to uphold the highest professional and personal standards inside and outside of school. Our thoughts are with his family as legal proceedings take their course."
